Building on GHD’s longstanding relationship with Habitat for Humanity, GHD Foundation his supporting Habitat for Humanity projects in the US, Canada and Australia.

“The Habitat for Humanity mission is aligned with the GHD Foundation’s focus on amplifying the impact of fundraising and volunteering efforts in the areas of energy, water and communities,” said Jo Metcalfe, Managing Director of GHD Foundation. " The Foundation is all about the practical and tangible and GHD people have been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity locally and around the world for many years, and this partnership will take our partnership to the next level.”

In Australia, GHD Foundation is a founding partner of the Women Building and Maintenance Social Enterprise Program, which helps women train and enter the construction industry.

In Canada, GHD Foundation is supporting the Indigenous Housing Partnership (IHP) and Women Build programs. With one in five Indigenous people in Canada (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) living in housing in need of major repairs, IHP partners with Indigenous families and communities to create safe and decent places to live and provide skills and training opportunities to Indigenous youth. Women Build empowers women from all social classes to invest, advocate and volunteer while working alongside future Habitat homeowners to build new affordable housing.

In the US, GHD Foundation is supporting new home construction and Women Build programs. Habitat’s Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities. Women volunteers build alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners to build strength, stability and independence through shelter. Women Build also offers an educational series to empower women homeowners and supports international programming to increase water and sanitation solutions to benefit women and children.

“Women and minorities are disproportionately impacted by housing insecurity and are more likely to face challenges accessing a place to call home. It’s with support from partners like GHD Foundation that we will expand our reach and empower women to build stronger, safer communities,” said Julie Laird Davis, vice president of corporate partnerships and cause marketing for HFH. “We look forward to working together to provide greater and equitable access to safe and decent housing around the world.”
