GHD Foundation has partnered with Berry College to bring in The King Center to support the advancement of diversity and inclusion initiatives in line with Dr. King’s vision for a just, humane, equitable and peaceful world
Berry is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college of approximately 2,200 students located in Mount Berry, Georgia, 75 miles northwest of Atlanta. The King Center, or the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, is a non-profit organization established in 1968 committed to educating the world on the life, legacy, and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
As part of this partnership, the GHD Foundation will provide financial support towards Berry College’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Specifically, funding will, be directed to high impact diversity and inclusion initiatives including Ambassador Support, Campus Workshop Series, and mentoring/student support. The partnership with GHD Foundation is also complemented by existing GHD support including volunteering, work placement and internship opportunities for Berry College students.
The partnership was launched at a “Bias Challenge” workshop led by cultural consultant Vonnetta West, the first of several events this year developed by the Berry Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Joel Howell, GHD Foundation STEAM Working Group member, volunteer and GHD Inclusion & Diversity Leader for Americas and EMEA, said, “With both GHD and GHD Foundation prioritising the commitment of lasting community benefit, the partnership with Berry and The King Center enables both organisations to make a greater impact by exemplifying the important place that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion holds in shaping our communities.”
