GHD Foundation focuses on providing equitable access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education and employment. By funding various scholarships, the Foundation is helping individuals realise their potential and contribute to meaningful change in their communities.
University of Canterbury GHD Foundation Te Kakau a Māui Scholarship – New Zealand
Building on its support through the Te Kakau a Māui Scholarship, the GHD Foundation continues to invest in Indigenous leadership in STEAM and is now supporting another scholarship for an Indigenous student, ideally a women and first in their family to attend university.
The University says “this scholarship recognises and uplifts students who bring determination, fresh perspectives, and a deep commitment to community. These scholars are not defined by barriers, but by their ambition, cultural strength, and the powerful futures they are shaping for themselves and those around them.”
University of Salford Scholarship - UK
A second UK scholarship in partnership with the University of Salford will further support students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in STEAM. By providing financial support with a focus on equity and inclusion, the scholarship will help open pathways to higher education and increase opportunities for future employment success.
University of Sydney Humanitarian Engineering PhD Scholarship – Pacific
GHD Foundation is also funding a PhD scholarship in Humanitarian Engineering for a Filipino student at the University of Sydney. Focused on addressing critical sanitation challenges in Pacific Island countries, this scholarship empowers the scholar to develop sustainable solutions that improve public health and environmental outcomes. By strengthening local expertise, the scholarship drives change through context-specific research.
QUT Modular STEM - Design Thinking Course for Digital Transformation - Philippines
In partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT), GHD Foundation supported a design thinking train-the-trainer course for staff at the Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development. This scholarship-based programme enhances the agency’s digital transformation efforts for the purpose of improving service delivery for marginalised communities by equipping staff with valuable skills in user-centred design.
The Smith Family - Learning for Life Tertiary Scholarships - Australia
Through the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, GHD Foundation is supporting 20 tertiary scholarships for students from low-income families pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. These scholarships provide financial support, mentoring, and career development opportunities, helping students build on their strengths and achieve their academic and professional goals.
These partnerships build on the strengths and aspirations of individuals from underserved communities, breaking down barriers to education and professional development. The Foundation also seeks to explore opportunities to provide additional practical support, such as mentoring and access to professional networks through GHD in the Community volunteering. Through these initiatives, GHD Foundation is proud to contribute to a more inclusive, resilient future for all.
