The GHD Foundation is delighted to share that Hannah Garampil is the inaugural recipient of the GHD Foundation Award for Diversity in Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This award is given to a third-year Bachelor of Applied Science student who has a major in Engineering, demonstrates financial need, and are from communities that have been historically underrepresented in higher education and other areas.
Hannah dropped into GHD’s Vancouver office for a meet and greet with the GHD team reflecting that years ago, she used to come to the same building for piano lessons. Hannah expressed her gratitude, sharing that this recognition holds significant meaning for her as a first-generation student, and serves as a testament to the strength, determination and resilience needed to navigate and overcome challenges. She is happy knowing that the GHD Foundation is committed to supporting individuals like herself. Hannah shared her passion for civil engineering and her upcoming research intern assignment focused on transportation and wildfire modelling.
