GHD Foundation Supports Renewable Energy Upgrade for Galeru Bushfoods, First Nations Social Enterprise
The GHD Foundation is proud to fund a transformative renewable energy project for SevGen’s social enterprise, Galeru Forever Fruits. This initiative addresses the need to replace the current energy system with a new solar and battery storage system. This aims to significantly reduce electricity costs and greenhouse gas emissions and aligns with both environmental and economic objectives of the farm.
SevGen, based on the Sunshine Coast, is dedicated to First Nations education and employment through its 3E model—Enterprise, Education, and Entrepreneurship. Galeru Forever Fruits, one of SevGen’s key social enterprises, focuses on land regeneration and local food production. The new solar energy system is essential for the farm’s financial sustainability, enabling it to continue providing affordable, locally grown bushfoods.
The grant not only provides crucial funding but also leverages the skills and expertise of GHD, the Foundation’s primary partner. GHD’s involvement has supported the successful implementation of the solar upgrade, enhancing the project’s overall impact. This collaboration highlights the commitment to combining financial support with practical expertise for sustainable change.
Through this initiative, the GHD Foundation aims to support SevGen’s vision of long-term resilience and community empowerment. By promoting sustainable energy solutions and supporting Indigenous-led enterprises, the Foundation is driving progress toward both environmental and social goals.
